Low Carb Diet Info You Need to Make an Informed Decision



Research has it that for the past two years about 32 million Americans have been resorting to various low carb diet plans, e.g., Atkins, Zone, Protein Power, Sugar Busters, and Stillman.

Some contends that it is not safe to do this kind of weight loss diet plan. But there are those who still believes in its help to reduce weight. It really just depends on how one follows the instructions well.

For many it is not a bed of roses to go through a certain kind of food inclination. It will necessitate an extreme lifestyle change. Cutting back on food that are starchy and sugar-laden to lose some weight and then going back to one's old chowing habits will not do the trick. As another good consequence, the blood pressure will eventually be better regulated that will avoid the occurrence of health problems particularly of the heart.

While diets differ as recommended, a low carb diet is comparable to a high in fat and moderate in protein diet. What's advised for the low carb enthusiasts is to at least have 60-70% of their daily calorie intake from fat and only 5-10% carbohydrates.

What usually includes a healthy low carb diet plan are following foods:

Lean meats - skinless chicken meat, e.g., breast, filet, sirloin, pork chops with the fat trimmed off, and fish meat.

Vegetables - celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, and peppers.

Fruits - not all fruits are low in carbohydrate. Peaches and plums are good candidates for a low carb diet. Also, fruits should be eaten less of compared to the meats and vegetables that a low carb diet must never run out of.

Thanks to the food technology, one can even eat foods that taste like those foods that have huge amounts of carbohydrate.

The process of preparing those foods can affect a low carb diet plan, too. Meats and vegetables could be stir-fried with vegetable cooking oil or steamed.

There are those who suffer from dehydration due to the poor knowledge they have associated with any of the low carb diet plan they get themselves in. It is known as ketosis.

It is very important that one educate himself properly to make an informed decision especially with these diet plans that may risk one's health.
